Commemoration of Pony Express 150th about 10 miles away

Saddle where they put the Pony Express mail. The Pony express
was only active for something like 18 months when the Railroad
took it's place. It was so dangerous as the Indians burned their stations, etc. They were on the watch out for the riders. They had only 2 minutes to transfer the mailbag.

Saturday we went up to Fort Churchill between sessions of conference. It was interesting and I had always wanted to go to the Museum which we drive by on a regular basis. The speaker said how much regard Abraham Lincoln had for the people of Nevada. He addressed his letters MY DEAR FRIENDS which he didn't normally do.
