David's heart Surgery

What a total surprise when David went to the doctor because of shortness of breath to find he need a heart valve replacement. He is planning on retirement the first of September so this is a good timing if he needs it. It will be difficult to take it easy after so many years of being so devoted to his job and finding such fulfillment. It is time for a new chapter in our lives. We will appreciate any fasting and prayers for his surgery on Monday the 18th of August in the Reno St. Mary's hospital.

Our Summer

The summer has whizzed by. We bought an older camper so we could get out and do something and then decided that it is so peaceful here we just enjoy staying home and then we don't have to pay the gas. Is anyone else so thrifty they make wierd decisions like that. I painted the outdated flower wallpaper and then decided we would just put it up for sale again.. We did three things for fun and that was go to Silver City and take a trail ride. It was something I'd always wanted to do after hearing my dad speak of his adventure. He loved to go to different places of nature to enjoy his sabbath. It was always the mountains around us. Needless to say, we still spend our sabbaths in a regular house of worship. We went last weekend to the Starlight Mountain Theater in Garden Valley . We saw the musical Crazy for You. It is an adaption of the 1939 musical Girl Crazy starring Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney. We thoroughly enjoyed it and I got on my dreaming binge again. How fun it would be in a few years to have those very talented decendants of Alexander and Emma Howard Doak put on a musical. We certainly have enough actresses and actors musicians and singers and dancers in the family to make a really great production for others to enjoy. Ben our son used to build sets while in college for his job. It was just a crazy dream and that is what I have most fun doing. Dreaming! For our anniversary I arranged for a river horse ride near the neighboring town of Parma. Since we both fell off horses that were not too well trained last fall I thought it a good idea to try it again on well seasoned horses. As you can tell we had fun by just staying home for the vacation.
