Don't forget our Exchange
This is a great time to go through clothes , toys, multiple kitchen items, tools, etc and bring them for our exchange and auction. Ben and Marae will be setting up household soon and if you have anything you don't need that takes up space think of them. They didn't have all the receptions, etc to accumulate things. We all remember how sparse things were in those struggling years. Any outgrown clothes that won't be needed in the forseeable future will go for the exchange. If you don't have anything that is fine. Recent moves tend to clean out things. Larisa has sent a few big bags. Someone may really appreciate that shirt in your closet you never wear. Craig starts Amazon on Wednesday for training. Elise is planning on working at Williams and Sonora for the holidays and plans to give demos. She would probably appreciate any ideas. I loved her yam strips baked with onion. Any root vegetable can go together I guess. Will have to try Parsnips and Rutabagas We have them in the garden.

A tender mercy of the Lord
We had picked up this refrigerator from Craigslist and decided to pick up our pantry cabinet to replace the one the people had taken out of the house when they foreclosed.
We were just sailing down the freeway and of course everything was tied in but not good enough evidentally. All of a sudden we looked back and the pantry had flown off. It suddenly just rolled off of the freeway. My immediate reaction was one of extreme gratitude. It waited to fly off till we were out of the heavy traffic of Reno and near our exit to Cold Springs where the traffic was sparse. A terrible accident would have been the result if it had flown off just a couple miles earlier in the heavy traffic. Larisa said Nick's cousin was killed by a tire flying off the car in front. We were not even concerned about the shape of the cabinet but when we checked it a couple of days later it was minor and can be repaired. In conference today they talked about how we could have the gift of ministry of angels if we were worthy. Wow! What a blessing. Did some angels quickly roll it off the freeway for us so it wouldn't obstruct the traffic until Craig and David could get back to get it? Thank you ! Thank you for watching over us.

Pictures if we are all together
We got Liz's input on what to wear if we are together at Thanksgiving. She suggested we wear fall colors like orange, browns, cranberry, greens and denim would be okay or tan, so we can coordinate. It will be nice to get a new family picture. Also she thought the kids may like to dress up in my costumes for a picture. They could put on a show with dancing and singing. (that is my idea.) Some new songs they can learn for auction bucks are from the Music Man which Elise wanted us to watch when she was here. The Wells Fargo Wagon, Till There Was You, Seventy Six Trombones, Come Come Ye Saints, In Our Lovely Deseret, The Battle Cry Of Freedom, My Darling Clementine. The little Boys would be cute on The Wells Fargo Wagon. Dancing to I've Got Rhythm, How You Goina Keep em down on the Farm? Perhaps I can figure out how to email music to you. I could send a bunch. Love Mom

Ways to shape your children
Here are a few things we discussed in Relief Society we could do with our children. Thought it was worth passing on.
Before they go to bed comment on the things they did good during the day.
Ask them what they are grateful for that day.
Ask them what they did for someone else that day.
Rose Kennedy used to cut out newspaper articles of current events and put them up and expect the family to discuss them around the dinner table.

Conference Saturday Night Session
Loved some of the speeches. The stake primary president gave a great talk. She suggested 3 things we do as families. 1. Do a Lousy Job ( She meant to try to do what we are asked to do even if we do a lousy job - family home evening, scripture reading, family and personal prayer, etc. (even read a verse or if we just put our hands on the scriptures that evening and offer thanks for the scriptures it's better than nothing at all.)
2. Discuss who we need to pray for as a family and say our prayers as a family and individually.
3. Discuss what we are grateful for with our families and get the children to think of how the Lord has blessed them that day.
Our regional representative's wife said they came to Fallon, Nevada each year to get Heart o'Gold cantelope. She said she discovered the people in our stake have hearts of gold. I think it is true. I am amazed at the quality of our leaders and many members here.
